Table games
(Table Games have not resumed.)
On Thursday afternoon 11 April our newest sub-group held its first gathering. The event was very successful, with 12 members attending.
The purpose of the Table Games sub-group is to provide participants with some extra mental stimulation and exercise while enjoying the company of others over a friendly but competitive game.
For the first gathering we played two games:
The first is a board game called Sequence. A simple game to learn, but challenging due to its strategic method of play. Everyone enjoyed several games and voted Sequence a "winner".
The second game, which we played after a cup of tea / coffee and some nutritious (?) snacks, was a card game called 3 to 13.
Again, this is a simple game to learn, but challenging to play well. Again we played several games after swapping our seating around to allow different game partnerships.
We finished on schedule at 4.30pm with all of us wishing we could go on for longer.
The Table Games subgroup will meet on the 2nd Thursday of every month, from 1.30pm until 4.30pm in the usual venue, Rotary Hall at Hamilton Green, 196 Hastings River Drive, Port Macquarie.
